o Thousands of year-old practice principled on balancing the body – modernly practiced using gentle and shallow insertion of sterile, single-use, hair-thin, stainless steel needles in order to stimulate the activity of the circulatory, nervous and connective tissue systems. It is a painless procedure, other than a minor pinch sensation which can be experienced at certain points upon insertion – this pinching sensation goes away immediately after the needle is inserted. Use the homeostatic nature of the body to balance and regulate the functioning of said systems, as well as the energetic systems – what are referred to as Qi in Eastern medicine
o Qi is manifested as the electric current in our bodies, “chill down the spine” sensation, release of energy felt down the limbs after watching a “warming or inspiring” scene in a movie, as well as the “lump in the throat” feeling while watching a sad scene. It is also experienced when we touch an object or another person after generating static electricity and feeling a “shock” sensation. In Eastern medicine, Qi is what is responsible for powering the nodes found in our heart which stimulate contraction of the heart muscle and power the circulation of blood throughout our vasculature. It is what generates function throughout our bodies from the atomic level, to the cellular level, to the organ level and every level in between and beyond. When there is an obstruction or stagnation of the flow of qi in the body, physical or psychological, we experience pain difficulties – at the Inn Spot, we use acupuncture to restore the free flow of qi in your body and subsequently your health and well being.
